Dar es Salaam. The Africa Tourism Promotion Centre (ATPC) and The Miss Tourism Tanzania Beauty Pageants Company Limited today jointly announced a historic alignment that positions the nation's premier beauty and culture showcase, the Miss Tourism Tanzania National Finale, as an annual centerpiece of national pride.
The pinnacle event will now be held, every year, on December 8th, the celebratory eve of the United Republic of Tanzania’s Independence Day Anniversary.
For 2025, this date holds even deeper significance: it will mark the 10th Anniversary of the Miss Tourism Tanzania National Finale and the launch of the pageant’s transformed system, promising an unprecedented fusion of cultural celebration, sustainable tourism advocacy, and female empowerment.
The Unveiling: A Strategic Date for a National Crown
"Choosing December 8th is more than a strategic date; it's a statement," says Erasto Gideon, President of the Africa Tourism Promotion Centre. "The eve of Independence is a moment when the world looks at Tanzania. By crowning Miss Tourism Tanzania at this powerful moment, we are ensuring that our unique heritage, our breathtaking landscapes—from the Serengeti to Zanzibar—and the incredible potential of our youth take center stage, globally. It’s an annual, magnetic convergence of patriotism and promotion."
The partnership underscores a shared vision: to leverage the immense platform of a national pageant to drive sustainable tourism and showcase Tanzania’s diverse cultural tapestry. The winner is not merely a queen; she is the nation's Chief Tourism Ambassador, tasked with embodying the spirit of 'sisi ni Tanzania' (We are Tanzania).
The 10th Anniversary & The Transformed System: A Decade of Dreams
The December 8, 2025 National Finale is set to be the most unique in the pageant’s history. It will celebrate ten years of empowering young women while debuting a revolutionary new format.
"This year, we are not just hosting a competition; we are premiering a new system designed to select a true, dedicated cultural diplomat," explains Georgina Saulo, Pageant Director of The Miss Tourism Tanzania Beauty Pageants Company Limited. "The transformed system will place unprecedented emphasis on local tourism project development, cultural knowledge, conservation advocacy, and entrepreneurial spirit. Our 10th anniversary Queen will be the first of a new generation—a leader fully equipped to champion Tanzania on the world stage."
The event will be a spectacular gala, blending high-fashion with traditional Tanzanian artistry and featuring performances that honour the nation's journey since its independence.
