The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence and National Service, Dr. Faraji Kasidi Mnyepe, has officially opened the 7th Session of the Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation (JPCC) on Defence and Security between Tanzania and Mozambique.
The meeting was opened on 5 October 2026 at the Aga Khan Diamond Jubilee Hall in Dar es Salaam.
Dr. Mnyepe said the cooperation between the two countries in defence and security diplomacy has a long history, built on good neighbourliness, friendship and shared interests of their peoples.
"This meeting is an important opportunity for both sides to jointly assess defence and security issues, exchange experience and expertise, and discuss areas to further strengthen cooperation," he said.
The session is attended by Permanent Secretaries, representatives of Heads of Defence and Security Organs, and experts from Tanzania and Mozambique.
Dr. Mnyepe urged delegates to deliberate in depth and with a common perspective to reach productive resolutions that will be implemented effectively for the benefit of both nations.
For his part, Mozambique's Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Casimiro Augusto Mueio, thanked the Government of Tanzania for the warm reception and hospitality extended to the Mozambican delegation since its arrival.
Mr. Mueio expressed optimism that the 7th JPCC will enable both sides to find joint solutions to various defence and security challenges and continue to strengthen strategic cooperation for the prosperity and wellbeing of the citizens of both countries.
Tanzania and Mozambique share a long diplomatic history forged during the liberation struggles of Southern Africa.
