In a bold move to attract both local and international investors, the Mining Commission has unveiled a new Communication Strategy aimed at promoting Tanzania’s mineral sector and showcasing its immense potential. The strategy is part of a broader effort to position the country as a premier destination for sustainable and profitable mining ventures.

Speaking during the official launch held at the Iringa Resident Mines Office, Greyson Mwase, Communication and Public Relations Manager of the Commission, emphasized that the strategy is designed to project Tanzania as an investor-friendly mining hub.

He stated that the initiative reflects the Commission’s commitment to delivering accurate, timely, and accessible information to stakeholders across the value chain.

“This strategy is a deliberate step towards branding Tanzania’s mineral sector as open, well-regulated, and full of untapped opportunities. It aims to strengthen public trust and stakeholder engagement while ensuring that investment-related information is readily available to prospective partners,” said Mwase.

The Communication Strategy focuses on five core areas: public outreach, media engagement, internal communication, crisis management, and stakeholder coordination. These pillars are expected to foster transparency, improve information flow, and encourage inclusive participation, creating an environment that is conducive for investment across the mining sector.

In addition to the strategy, stakeholders were introduced to the forthcoming Brand Manual—a comprehensive guide designed to standardize the Commission’s communication tools and enhance visibility across all platforms and offices. The manual will help reinforce the Commission’s institutional identity both locally and internationally.

The launch comes at a time when global interest in Tanzania’s mineral sector is growing, especially in areas like value addition, environmental sustainability, and local content development. The country continues to prioritize beneficiation and community development in its policy framework—an approach that resonates well with potential investors.

Iringa Resident Mines Officer, Eng. Abdulrahman Milandu, applauded the Communication Unit’s role in advancing the sector’s visibility and investor outreach.

He highlighted the Commission’s achievements in supporting mineral exploration, mining, processing, and trade, including the establishment of 43 mineral markets and 109 buying centres across the country.

He also stressed the importance of empowering Tanzanians through increased local content in the mining value chain.

The Communication Strategy is guided by the Commission’s broader vision to be a hub for exploration and sustainable mining in Africa, and its mission to manage the mining industry through supervision, monitoring, and regulation of exploration, mining, beneficiation, and mineral trade for sustainable development.

With the Communication Strategy now being rolled out, the Mining Commission is confident that it will usher in a new era of transparency, stakeholder confidence, and increased investment that will benefit miners, communities, and the national economy.
